Honda Monkey

The older version of Monkey had a 4-speed gearbox and now a couple of years back, Honda has introduced its new upgraded 2022 Honda Monkey ABS with a 5-speed gearbox which makes the bike even more versatile.

A new 125cc engine and 10:1 higher compression ratio increases its power and makes the zippy performance of the bike. It comes with standard ABS. To have some fun monkeying around and to get around town, the Monkey ABS is a perfect way.

Honda Grom

The 2022 Honda Grom features a new transmission (the fifth gear), new higher compression ratio which is 10:1, a revised engine, larger fuel tank, a thicker, flatter seat, and a new stylish design which makes 2022 the Honda Grom more comfortable and easier for customization.

The four bodywork panels have been designed to unbolt easily and quickly for modification or customization. Honda uses plastic panels for good modification purposes and the great thing is that the plastic panels are cheaper than the metallic panels.

Updates for 2022 Honda Monkey

The manual transmission has been upgraded to 5-speed in 2022 Monkey, higher top speed, standard ABS, and bold acceleration, all these things have been upgraded by Honda in 2022 Monkey, and all these updates that riders are wanted.

The new Honda Monkey ABS shares its key engine specification with the new 2022 Honda Grom (sibling of Honda Monkey) which includes a smaller bore and a longer stroke.

In the previous Honda Monkey, the bore and stroke were 52.4mm x 57.9mm but now in 2022 Honda Monkey, the bore is smaller that is 50mm and the stroke is longer that is 63.1mm.

The new Honda Monkey comes with a 10:1 higher compression ratio and also included standard ABS (Antilock Breaking System).

The older version was available in red and blue color and now the new 2022 version is available in yellow and black color.

Monkey

The Honda Monkey ABS is powered by a 124.9cc SOHC, air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine which develops 9.25bhp @6,750rpm and 11Nm @5,500rpm

The Monkey comes with a 5-speed gearbox or you can call it transmission with multiplate wet clutch and with standard ABS. The bike is SOHC with two valves per cylinder and a chain drive type.

Grom

The Honda Grom is powered by a 124.9cc SOHC, air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine which develops 9.7 hp @7,000 rpm and 7.7 lb.-ft. torque @5,500 rpm.

The 2022 Grom comes with a 5-speed gearbox or you can call it transmission with multiplate wet clutch and with optional standard ABS. The bike is SOHC with two valves per cylinder and a chain drive type.

Handling of Honda Monkey

Monkey has a short 45-inch wheelbase so in the handling department, you will likely feel pretty perky. The handlebar is very lightweight and comfortable which turns the bike right and left in the slightest tug.

This bike provides you with a comfortable and unique riding experience and that’s what the Monkey is manufactured for. Talking about suspensions, the bike featured USD forks at the front and a twin shock absorber at the rear.

The tires wrapped on wheels have 130mm width at the rear and 120mm width at the front assisted by standard ABS. The size of wheels is 12-inch each.

The handlebars are very lightweight so you won’t feel any type of weight and you can easily and comfortably ride the 2022 Monkey ABS.

Handling of Honda Grom

When you ride the bike at its mid-speed around 40-45 the suspension will be perfectly adequate, however, if you ride the 2022 Honda Grom at its top speed (60 mph), it runs out of stroke significantly more rapidly, moving greater knocks to the rider.

Talking about suspensions, the fact is that the good suspensions are expensive and Honda does not want to make its bike more expensive so Honda provides the same previous 31mm telescopic fork; 3.9 in. travel front suspension and Single shock; 4.1 in. travel rear suspension.

Brakes and safety of Monkey and Grom

Monkey

The twin-piston front disc brake calipers in Monkey ABS are ubiquitous and better than retro drums. The rear brake is a Single 190mm hydraulic disc and the front brake is a Single 220mm hydraulic disc; ABS. It has IMU control that reduces the rear wheel lift under braking.

As is all-inclusive now, in all conditions, both discs are cross-penetrated for steady execution. when you pull the front lever to break, it would be pretty hard to get the ABS. If you want to venture into the dirt, the ABS is not released from a connection.

Grom

There is no change in breaking components for third-generation Grom. The bike features a 2-piston caliper, 220mm disc at the front and 1-piston caliper, 190mm disc with optional standard ABS.

Comfort and Mileage

Monkey

The 231-pound curb weight, low 30.5-inch seat, and standard handlebar makes the Monkey ABS comfortable and easy to ride.

For taller riders, there is not enough space on the cockpit but the riders who are 5-6 feet tall can easily and comfortably ride the bike.

The 775mm seat is designed for single riders and there are no passenger pegs provided in Monkey ABS. The Monkey ABS has a 1.5-gallon fuel tank, the bike gives mileage of 155 mpg.

Grom

The 228 -pound curb weight, low 30.0-inch seat, and standard handlebar makes the Grom comfortable and easy to ride.

For taller riders, there is not enough space on the cockpit but the riders who are 5-6 feet tall can easily and comfortably ride the bike.

The Grom ABS has a 1.6-gallon fuel tank, the bike gives mileage of 155 mpg claimed by Honda.
